Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a night shift position requiring ACLS, BLS, and at least two years of critical care experience.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a 16-bed ICU within an acute care hospital setting
  • Primary patient population includes cardiac and respiratory cases
  • Standard nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2
  • Night shifts from 6:45pm to 7:15am with every other weekend required
  • Use of MediTech EMR system
  • Nurses titrate drips such as Levophed, Propofol, Insulin, Dopamine, Neosynephrine, and Precedex
  • RNs are responsible for cardiac monitoring and reading strips
  • Unit is supported 24/7 by RT and hospitalist or intensivist coverage
  • No nurse aides on the unit
  • Contract RNs may be required to float according to union rules
  • May be placed on call for low census with a 30-minute response time
  • Orientation consists of 2 unit-specific shifts
  • Expected to provide comprehensive care for critically ill cardiac and respiratory patients
  • Mandatory holiday coverage includes one major and one minor holiday
  • Scrub colors accepted: black, cocoa brown, charcoal grey, navy blue, or khaki
  • First-time travelers to CommonSpirit may be considered unless employed at a CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year
  • Floating outside the ICU may be required as per staffing needs

Requirements

  • Active OR RN license or Compact license required at time of consideration
  • Minimum 2 years of recent ICU or critical care experience
  • Current ACLS and BLS certifications required (no pending certifications accepted)
  • Experience with acute care and titrating critical care drips required
  • Ability to read and interpret cardiac telemetry
  • Copy of valid driver’s license required
  • Two references: one supervisor reference from within the past 12 months and one peer or supervisor reference from within the past 3 years
