Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring a WA or compact RN license, LDRP experience, and night shift availability.

Responsibilities

• Work in an acute care Labor & Delivery setting
• Large birthing center with 34 L&D beds, 2 OR suites for C-sections, 2 triage beds, and 14 postpartum beds
• Cares for patients 33 weeks gestation and above with high-risk cases including preeclampsia, diabetes, and substance use
• Patient ratios follow AWHONN guidelines: 1:2 L&D and 1:3-4 couplets
• Handles approximately 150-180 births per month
• Shifts are 12 hours on nights with every other weekend required (Fri/Sat nights)
• Block scheduling available if requested in contract
• No floating outside the mother baby and postpartum unit; must have competency to work postpartum and attend low-risk deliveries
• Uses Epic for electronic medical records and Centricity-perinatal for EFM
• Standby/call response time is 45 minutes
• Primary responsibilities include independent delivery attendance, assisting in C-sections, newborn transition care, and caring for postpartum mothers and infants
• Unit is supported by 24/7 in-house OBGYN/hospitalist, neonatology NP, anesthesia provider, one surgical tech per shift, and a patient care assistant
• Must be comfortable adapting to established workflows and accepting feedback for continuous quality improvement
• Scrubs provided and locker access available
• 8-hour general and Epic orientation plus 2-3 12-hour unit orientation shifts provided
• Participation in holiday coverage rotation is required
• Manager is supportive and provides regular feedback to travelers
• First-time travelers may be considered if they meet experience requirements

Requirements

• Active WA or compact RN license required at time of application
• Minimum of 2 years recent Labor & Delivery RN experience, or 1 year with significant travel experience
• BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications required, with intermediate or advanced FHM preferred
• Must have experience attending deliveries independently and circulating in C-sections
• Must be skilled with LDRP, transitioning newborns, and titrating drips including Magnesium, Pitocin, and Insulin
• Experience with Epic charting system preferred
• Able to provide two professional references, one supervisor from the last 12 months and another from the past 3 years
• Copy of driver’s license required for consideration
