Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Telemetry position requiring a NC or compact RN license and strong cardiac experience.
Responsibilities
- Position is in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) with a cardiac telemetry focus
- Night shifts only (3x12 hours, 18:45–07:15) with 36 hours per week
- Patient population includes complex cardiac cases such as atrial fibrillation, CHF, ACS, and post-cardiac surgery patients
- Ratios vary by acuity: 1:4 for surgical step down, 1:5-6 for lower acuity
- Specialized procedures include CABG, TAVR, pacemaker placement, vascular and thoracic surgeries
- Equipment used includes cardiac drips, chest tubes, Doppler, EKG, femoral sheaths, and Epicardial Pacing Wires
- Electronic documentation is via Epic; medication management through Pyxis
- Required to work four weekend shifts per four weeks (flexible)
- Must be willing to float within the hospital as per rotation and may be assigned to float to affiliate hospitals as needed
- Storm Team and disaster response participation may be required
- Must be flexible to float within hospital and to affiliate hospitals based on skills and census needs
- Participation in Storm Team or Hurricane Team, and response during disaster/mass casualty events, is a contract expectation
- 24-hour unit orientation provided; navy scrubs required
- First week of assignment is reserved for orientation and no time off is allowed
- Candidates must be willing to work at least 2 out of 3 major holidays during assignment
- Return to work as a traveler is allowed only after 12 months have passed since previous PERM/PRN/EP staff roles at this system; current travel Per Diem clinicians at this health system are ineligible for travel assignments
- Candidates with a permanent address within 50 miles will be offered a local rate
Requirements
- Active NC or compact RN license required in hand at time of start; pending OK for submission
- Minimum 2 years of experience on the cardiac floor required
- Cardiac telemetry, stepdown, or similar intermediate care experience required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start
- Epic charting experience required
- Proficiency in cardiac-specific procedures such as sheath removal, dysrhythmia management, pre/post cardiac cath care, and management/titration of cardiac drips
