Job Description

American Traveler is seeking a Physical Therapist for an inpatient rehab position with acute care and rehabilitation experience, requiring an active IL license and BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Position is within an acute care hospital inpatient rehab unit
• Day shift schedule, Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM, with every third weekend required
• Candidates will float to various units within the hospital and to affiliated hospitals as needed
• Patient population includes adolescent, young adult, middle adult, and older adult age groups
• Cares for patients with cardiopulmonary, geriatric, neurology, and orthopedic conditions as well as a variety of acute care cases
• Handles cases such as COPD, CHF, MI, PVD, amputations, post-op joint replacements, spinal surgery, cognitive disorders, stroke, dementia, brain and spinal cord injuries
• Utilizes a wide range of equipment including crutches, gait belts, Hoyer lifts, sit-to-stand lifts, wheelchairs, prosthetics, and specialty beds
• Cerner is used for charting; Cerner experience is preferred
• Responsibilities include patient evaluation, treatment planning, documentation, discharge planning, and reassessment for hospital inpatients requiring rehabilitation
• Floating to various units and affiliate hospitals within scope is required
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Must work two out of three major holidays if on assignment during those periods
• Up to five days of non-holiday time off is permitted; additional days require approval
• Gray scrubs are required per hospital dress code
• No on-call requirements
• Free parking with permit provided during orientation
• Previous Memorial PERM or PRN employees must be away for 12 months before eligibility
• Must complete modules virtually on the first day and annually thereafter

Requirements

• Active IL physical therapy license in hand required for consideration; license required if applicable
• Minimum 1 year of recent inpatient rehab or acute care experience required
• BLS certification required (AHA or Red Cross only; RQI cards not accepted)
• Proficiency with assessment and documentation of adaptive devices, AROM/AAROM/PROM, arousal and attention, assistive devices, environmental barriers, pain, sensory response, skin integrity, strength, and vital signs
• Experience with equipment such as bed alarms, hospital beds, mobility devices, and lower extremity prosthetics required
• Competency in orthopedic, neurological, and cardiopulmonary case management, including specialized treatment skills such as myofascial release, manual therapy, and prosthetic training
• Ability to manage billing across commercial, Medicaid, Medicare A/B, private pay, and workers' compensation
• Experience with adolescent through older adult patient populations required
• Cerner EMR experience preferred
• Level II trauma and teaching hospital experience preferred
• Must arrive in IL three business days before assignment start to complete fingerprinting
