Job Description

American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg RN with an active IL license, BLS and NIH certifications, and at least one year of experience for a night shift assignment.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Medical Surgical unit of an acute care hospital setting
• Level I trauma center and Magnet-recognized facility
• Night shifts, 3x12 hours (18:45–07:15), with every other weekend required
• Patient ratio of 1:5 across all shifts with an average daily census of 21
• Clinicians are required to float to other Med/Surg or similar units as needed
• Cerner EMR is used; previous Cerner experience is preferred
• RN will provide comprehensive nursing care across a variety of adult medical-surgical cases
• Team-oriented environment with support from experienced staff
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Scrub colors can be any solid color
• All clinicians must complete required virtual modules on their first day
• No call or on-call responsibilities
• Free parking permit provided after completing orientation paperwork
• Must be able to work 2 out of 3 major holidays if assignment covers those dates
• Floating to affiliated hospitals may be required as part of the assignment
• RTO requests up to 5 days are permitted without additional approval

Requirements

• Active IL RN license in hand is required for consideration
• Minimum of 1 year recent Med/Surg RN experience
• Current BLS and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required; AHA or Red Cross accepted, RQI cards not accepted
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, telemetry, rapid response teams, and IV therapy preferred
• Preferred experience with Cerner EMR, cardiovascular, endocrine, GI, renal, neurological, orthopedic trauma, surgical drains, and respiratory interventions
• Must not have been a permanent or PRN employee of the health system within the last 12 months
