Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Med/Surg RN for a night shift contract, requiring an active IL RN license and BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Medical Surgical unit of an acute care Level I trauma center
• Night shifts, 3x12 hours (18:45-07:15)
• Every other weekend required, with schedule adjustments for requested time off on weekends
• Float required within the hospital and potentially to nearby affiliate hospitals
• Patient ratios may go up to 1:7 if needed
• PICC line management, starting IVs, and care for trach and laryngectomy patients required
• Uses Cerner EMR system; prior Cerner experience preferred
• Magnet-recognized work environment with 562 staffed beds
• No on-call responsibilities
• Solid color scrubs required
• Parking permit required, provided at no cost
• First time travelers accepted
• Locals accepted without distance restrictions
• May only request one winter holiday off; must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• Must be away from prior Memorial employment (PERM or PRN) for 12 months before applying as a traveler
• Modules completion required on first day and then annually, up to 16 hours non-billable
• Manager reviews and approves all RTO requests based on unit schedule

Requirements

• Active IL RN license in hand required at time of application
• Current BLS certification required (AHA or Red Cross accepted, RQI not accepted)
• Minimum of 2 years recent Med/Surg RN experience required
• Must be willing to manage PICC lines and start IVs
• Willingness to care for trach and laryngectomy patients, experience not required
• Cerner experience preferred
• Must provide two professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years
