Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Med/Surg RN for night shifts requiring active IL license and BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Work in an 18-bed Med/Surg acute care unit with private and semi-private rooms
• Patient population includes general medical cases with varying diagnoses
• Nurse to patient ratio is 5-6:1 on nights
• Administer and titrate Heparin drips as required
• Utilize Epic EMR system for documentation
• Patients may require up to 6L nasal cannula oxygen and stable BiPAP/CPAP at night
• Remote telemetry monitoring with Phillips equipment
• Night shifts are 12 hours, 3 shifts per week, 7:00 pm – 7:00 am, with every other weekend and holiday rotation
• Travel RNs must float to other units as needed
• Complete a 12-hour orientation shift with unit preceptor
• Charge RN and house supervisor onsite 24/7; charge may have an assignment
• Two patient care techs per shift for support
• No call requirements
• Must provide own scrubs in any color except pediatric prints
• RNs are expected to attempt IV starts, with an inpatient phlebotomy team available for blood draws
• Pharmacy and respiratory therapy support available 24/7
• First-time travelers are welcome
• Local candidates within 50 miles may be considered with different rate structure

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required at time of consideration
• Current BLS (AHA) certification required
• Minimum 1 year of hospital RN experience preferred
• Experience with Epic EMR preferred
• Ability to titrate Heparin drips
• Covid vaccination is not required
