Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift ICU position in an acute care setting requiring a current CA RN license and strong critical care skills.

Responsibilities

• Work in a 16-20 bed ICU within an acute hospital setting
• Adult and occasional pediatric patient population including MedSurg, neuro, cardiac, trauma (not transferred out), psych, and advanced therapies such as ECMO, Impella, CRRT, balloon pumps, TAVR, and EVAR
• Nurse to patient ratios of 1:1 or 1:2
• Shifts are 12 hours, nights (7p-7a), with every other weekend required
• Floating required to telemetry unit with 4:1 ratio as needed
• On-call possible based on census, with a 30-minute response time if called in
• Cerner EMR utilized for documentation
• Phillips telemetry and Draeger vents in use
• IV team and 24/7 respiratory therapy and pharmacy available
• Charge nurse available and does not carry a patient assignment
• Two shift ICU orientation provided before working independently
• Responsible for providing advanced critical care in a collaborative multidisciplinary team environment
• Expected to work holidays as scheduled with holiday RTO considered but not guaranteed
• Navy scrubs required
• Intensivist in house 24 hours, with on-call availability at night
• Must be available to cover weekends and float as needed
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply

Requirements

• Active CA RN license in hand at time of application (pending not accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience required
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• PALS and CCRN certifications preferred
• Two professional references: one supervisor reference from the past year and one peer or supervisor reference from within the past 3 years
• Copy of driver’s license required for consideration
• Must not have been employed (full time, part time, or PRN) by CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity within the past year
• Ability to pass a dysrhythmia and sterile technique assessment as part of onboarding
