Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Acute Rehab position in a Level 2 trauma setting requiring a CA RN license and strong neuro/rehab skills.
Responsibilities
- Work in an Acute Rehabilitation Unit within a hospital environment
- 36 licensed beds with a patient ratio of 1 nurse to 5 patients
- Common patient population includes post-stroke, spinal cord and brain injuries, orthopedic surgeries, amputations, MS, Guillain-Barré, and tracheostomies
- Night shift position with 12-hour shifts, including every other weekend
- Floating required to 4G, 4Farr, and Tele units as needed
- Use of Cerner EMR for documentation
- Some ventilator (bipap/cpap, trachs) cases
- Support from nurse aides, rehab aides, shift manager, pharmacy, and RT available 24/7
- Physical, Speech, and Occupational Therapy available on unit
- Responsible for managing a caseload of complex neuro and rehabilitation patients
- Support staff includes nurse aides and a shift manager who does not take patient assignments
- Candidates may not have been employed directly by a CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year
- Floor-specific orientation typically provided over 3-4 shifts
- Navy scrubs are required
- Must cover one major and one minor holiday during both winter and summer seasons
- First to float policy applies to travelers
- No IV team in-house; nurses manage IV care
- Relias Dysrhythmia and sterile technique testing may be required as part of orientation
Requirements
- Active CA RN license required at time of consideration
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience in rehab and/or ortho/neuro medsurg settings
- Current certifications required: BLS (AHA or ARC), ACLS, and NIHSS
- Extensive experience with spinal cord and brain injury patients required
- Rehab nursing certification preferred
- Travel nursing experience preferred
- Experience with Cerner charting preferred
- References required: one recent supervisor from past 12 months and one peer or supervisor from last 3 years with dates of employment and rehire eligibility
- Copy of driver’s license required for consideration
