Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiothoracic Unit position in Illinois requiring an active IL RN license and skills in telemetry and drips.

Responsibilities

Work in the Cardio Thoracic Unit of an acute care hospital
Unit specializes in telemetry; common diagnoses include MI, CHF, A fib, COPD, pacemaker/AICD placement, and various lung surgeries with chest tubes
70-bed unit with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4-5 on days and 1:5-6 on nights
RN will titrate drips, especially Cardizem and heparin
Uses Phillips tele monitors; RN must interpret their own strips
EPIC is the charting system used
Night shifts, 3x12s (1900-0730), with weekend and holiday rotation
Floating required to other general medical units
No call or standby requirement
Responsibilities include managing telemetry patients, performing EKG interpretation, and titrating physician-ordered drips
24/7 charge nurse and house supervisor available with PCT support on the unit
Holiday coverage is required as part of a rotating schedule
Scrubs can be any solid color except for children/cartoon prints
Unit orientation typically consists of one shift and may vary depending on prior experience at the facility
Local candidates within 50 miles are eligible for local pay rates
COVID vaccination is not required for this position

Requirements

Active IL RN license required at time of application
Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience
Certification in BLS (AHA) required; ACLS recommended
Proficiency in EKG interpretation and medication titration
Experience with telemetry and managing chest tubes and post-surgical cardio thoracic patients
Ability to read and interpret tele strips on Phillips monitors
All required credentials and certifications must be active; pending applications not accepted
