Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift ICU position requiring a ND or compact license and advanced certifications.

Responsibilities

• Work in a 4-bed ICU in an acute care setting
• Night shifts, 12 hours in length, with weekend and holiday shifts as needed
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2-3 depending on patient acuity
• Patient population includes DKA, sepsis, respiratory failure, cardiac, medical detox, and patients with arterial lines and CVP monitoring
• RNs required to titrate drips and interpret cardiac monitor strips
• Uses Meditech EMR system
• RNs float to Med/Surg or ER (for 1:1 assignments) as needed
• No nurse aides/patient care techs on the unit
• No charge nurse assigned; ER oversees ICU
• Required to wear navy scrubs
• Three 12-hour orientation shifts provided
• Responsibilities include care and management of a variety of critically ill patients and titration of multiple ICU drips
• RNs must be proactive, coachable, motivated, and effective team players
• Holiday and weekend coverage assigned as needed
• Floating required to other units as specified
• Required to read and interpret their own monitor strips
• No first-time travelers accepted
• Up to 7 days of time off may be requested up front; additional time off not approved

Requirements

• Active ND or compact RN license at time of application
• Minimum 1 year of ICU RN experience
• Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, PALS, and TNCC, TCAR, or trauma patient care experience
• Must present two references: one supervisor from the last 12 months, and one peer or supervisor from the last 3 years
• Must provide a copy of driver’s license
• Candidate must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
• May not be employed in any capacity with facilities associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI or Dignity, within the past year
• Must be able to pass required fit testing for respiratory protection (facial hair restrictions apply)
