Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position on a night shift with a focus on cardiac and medical patients requiring an active AZ or compact RN license and tele experience.

Responsibilities

  • Work in an acute care hospital setting on a 49-bed Medical/Surgical Telemetry unit
  • Patient population includes CHF, COVID, respiratory, GI, diabetics, post cath, total joint replacements, CVA, and TIA cases
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5
  • Nights, 12-hour shifts, with self-scheduling subject to manager approval
  • Required to work 2 weekends per 4-week schedule
  • Holiday coverage required for Christmas, New Year's, and Thanksgiving, including specific eve and day expectations
  • Required to float to East Campus and potentially PCU if qualified
  • Uses Cerner EMR; Cerner experience recommended due to limited orientation
  • Unit equipped with BiPap, CPAP, and breathing treatment equipment
  • Tele/monitor techs present; RNs required to interpret and sign telemetry strips each shift
  • One shift of unit-specific orientation is provided
  • Navy blue scrubs are required
  • Work closely with charge nurses, house supervisors, nurse aides, and tele/monitor techs
  • No titration of cardiac drips; set rate Cardizem drips are managed
  • No on-call or standby requirements
  • First to float policy applies
  • Must interpret and document telemetry strip readings at least once per shift
  • Holiday and weekend coverage is strictly enforced

Requirements

  • Active AZ or compact RN license required at time of consideration
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent acute care experience required
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Proficiency in reading basic tele strips and dysrhythmias required
  • Some experience with CVA, TIA, and total joint replacement patients required
  • Must pass a Relias dysrhythmia exam prior to contract
  • Cerner EMR experience recommended
  • Copy of driver's license required
  • Two references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years including employment dates and rehire eligibility
  • May not have been employed by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility full-time, part-time, or PRN within the past year
  • Must live at least 50 miles from the facility
