Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an RN for a Level I Trauma Emergency Department role requiring NM or compact RN license and current TNCC certification.

Responsibilities

• Position is based in a Level I Trauma and Teaching Hospital Emergency Department
• Works with both adult and pediatric populations, with floating to Adult PCUs expected and optional floating to Peds ED
• Patient ratios are 1:5 in the ED
• Majority of ED patients are admitted, with a high percentage in ED holding
• Night shift role (3x12 hours from 19:00 to 7:30), 36 or 48 hour contract options
• Weekend scheduling required as needed on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights
• Uses Cerner EMR
• Responsibilities include medication administration, including IV meds, and thorough documentation and communication of clinical findings
• Increased number of admit holds in the department
• No on-call required
• Must wear black scrubs
• Floating to Adult PCUs expected during staffing needs and potential floating to ED Holding and Trauma
• First-time travelers are considered but travel experience is strongly preferred
• RTO greater than 7 days requires approval; no RTO permitted first 7 days or last day of contract
• Perm employees may return as travelers if separated for 12 months or more
• Drug screen required within 30 days of start
• Holiday coverage required; limited to one holiday bundle unless otherwise approved

Requirements

• Active NM or compact RN license required; license may be pending at time of consideration
• Minimum of 2 years of Emergency Department RN experience required, Level I Trauma experience strongly preferred
• Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS, TNCC (must be in hand), NIH (can be in process), PALS
• Travel experience preferred, but candidates with at least 2 years Level I Trauma experience considered
• No locals within 75 miles of facility
• COVID vaccination required unless medical or religious exemption form is completed
• Valid Driver’s License or written transportation plan required
