Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Intermediate Care (IMC) night shift position requiring a MD or compact RN license and 2 years of IMC experience.

Responsibilities

• Work in an Intermediate Care (IMC) unit in a hospital setting
• Patient ratio of 1:4-6
• Patient populations include cardiac, diabetes, COPD/asthma, sepsis, pneumothorax, ESRD/dialysis, hypertension/hypotension, ETOH withdrawal, and post-general surgery
• Responsible for chest tubes, PCA infusions, bedside monitoring, non-titratable drips, and IV infusions
• Night shifts, 3x12 hours, 19:00-07:00
• Weekend coverage required as directed by unit operational needs, typically every other weekend
• Floating may be required based on unit needs
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Scrubs are not provided; required color is Caribbean blue
• 12-hour modules must be completed pre-start or during orientation
• Return staff must have been separated for at least one year to be eligible
• Local candidates within 60 miles are accepted at a lower rate
• No more than 7 days of requested time off allowed per 13-week contract, and no time off permitted in the first two weeks
• May be required to work holidays as determined by unit needs

Requirements

• Active MD or compact RN license required at time of consideration
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of IMC nursing experience, including charge nurse responsibilities
• Experience with chest tubes, PCA infusions, bedside monitoring, non-titratable drips, and IV infusions required
• Must pass the Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with at least 80% overall and 100% on lethal rhythms
• Two professional supervisor references from the past two years required
• Flu vaccine required
