Job Description

American Traveler is seeking a skilled Emergency Department RN for night shifts in a critical access Level IV Trauma Center in Alaska, requiring an active or pending AK RN license and advanced emergency care skills.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Emergency Department of a critical access hospital and Level IV Trauma Center
• Primarily 12-hour night shifts with occasional day or mid shifts as needed
• Patient ratios are typically 1:4
• Serves a diverse patient population including adults and children, often presenting via boat or aircraft from surrounding islands
• Epic EMR is used for documentation
• No floating to other departments is required
• Weekend requirements are to be determined
• No on-call responsibilities
• Facility has a total of 54 staffed beds
• Responsibilities include providing comprehensive emergency care across the lifespan
• Direct and delegate care to other team members appropriate to their qualifications
• No blocked scheduling is permitted due to union regulations
• Scrubs of any color are permitted
• Free onsite parking is available
• First-time travelers will be considered, though travel experience is preferred
• Local candidates within 60 miles are not accepted

Requirements

• Current AK RN license or eligibility with proof of application (pending start date may be adjusted for processing time)
• BLS and ACLS certifications required; PALS, TNCC, and ENPC are preferred
• Preferred 2-3 years of experience as an ER RN, with at least 1 year of recent ED experience strongly preferred
• Previous clinical practice in emergency or high-acuity settings, including paramedic or EMS experience, will be considered
• Knowledge and ability to manage cardiac, critical care, med/surg, psychiatric, and trauma patients of all ages independently
• Telemetry and advanced IV therapy skills for all ages required
• Epic charting experience within the past year is preferred
• Applicants must not have worked for the specified health system in the past year
• Must be fully vaccinated for employment
