Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Emergency Room RN with an active AK license for a night shift role in a Level IV Trauma Center.

Responsibilities

• Work in a hospital-based Emergency Department within a critical access, Level IV Trauma Center
• Primarily 12-hour night shifts with occasional day or evening shifts as needed
• Patient assignments are typically 1:4 ratio across all age groups
• Care for a diverse patient population including cardiac, critical care, complex med/surg, psychiatric, and multiple trauma patients
• No floating outside of the Emergency Department
• No on-call responsibilities
• Uses Epic EMR for charting
• Deliver rapid and independent nursing care to patients presenting emergently, including those arriving by boat or aircraft from remote areas
• Collaborate with a dedicated, fully staffed ED nursing team in a high-acuity, regional referral environment
• No block scheduling permitted due to union regulations
• Scrub color is flexible and any color is allowed
• Free parking is available onsite
• Return travelers must have a separation of at least one year from the previous assignment within the health system
• First-time travelers are considered but prior travel experience is preferred

Requirements

• Current and active AK RN license required (or proof of AK license application with adjusted start date)
• Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC preferred, ENPC preferred
• Prefer 2-3 years of recent ER nursing experience; 1 year minimum ER RN experience strongly preferred
• IV skills proficiency for patients of all ages required
• Telemetry and ABG experience preferred
• Experience in fast-paced, high volume, high-risk emergency settings required
• Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19
• Must provide two professional references, with at least one from a supervisor
• Epic charting experience preferred but not required
• Locals not accepted within a 60-mile radius
