Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a night shift Cardiac Renal Stepdown position with cardiac telemetry focus and strong Epic skills required.

Responsibilities

• Work in a 32-bed Cardiac Renal Stepdown Unit within a teaching hospital
• Patient population includes high acuity cardiac telemetry, medical-surgical, post heart cath (without interventions), heart failure, COPD, sepsis, behavioral health, post ablations, and dialysis
• Typical cases include arrhythmias (Afib with RVR, flutter, blocks), CHF, and nephrostomy tube management
• Night shift 12-hour shifts from 6:30 pm to 7 am
• Nurse-to-patient ratio for nights is 1:5-7
• Floating required within skillset, including potential float to campuses up to 11 miles away with 2 hours' notice
• Weekend requirement is three weekends per six week schedule
• Required to work every other holiday
• Recent Epic EMR experience required
• Responsibilities include managing high acuity cardiac and renal telemetry patients, initiating and titrating drips, and interpreting complex EKGs
• May be required to precept students and new hires as part of the teaching hospital environment
• Scrubs must not display health system or agency logos
• No COVID-19 vaccine required at this time, but this may change
• First to float within skillset, including possible cross-campus mid-shift floats with advance notice
• Excessive call-ins (3 per contract) may result in termination
• Strong and supportive team culture with longstanding unit leadership
• No local candidates accepted; candidates must reside outside a 40-mile radius

Requirements

• Active IN or Compact RN license required
• AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years recent cardiac/telemetry RN experience required
• At least 1 prior travel assignment required
• Experience at a trauma level II facility required
• Proficiency with telemetry and 12-lead EKG interpretation required
• Must pass telemetry skills tests
• Ability to initiate and titrate drips, manage PIVs, chest tubes, drains, nephrostomy tubes, and antidysrhythmic medications
• Strong assessment and critical thinking skills required
• Recent Epic charting experience required
