Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiac Renal Med/Surg Telemetry position with night shifts and a strong background in cardiac/tele nursing.

Responsibilities

• Position is on the Cardiac Renal Med/Surg Telemetry unit with 34 beds
• Patient population includes post-cardiac procedures, A-fib RVR, ESRD, CHF, sepsis, tracheostomies, nephrostomy tubes, behavioral health, and detox cases
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:6-7 on nights
• 12-hour night shifts from 6:30 pm to 7:00 am
• Weekend requirement is three weekends per six weeks
• Holiday coverage is every other holiday
• First to float within skillset; may float between nearby campuses with 2-hour notice
• Uses Epic EMR, recent experience required
• Tele test must be passed by travelers
• No on-call or call back required
• Role may require precepting students and new hires as the facility is a teaching hospital
• Strong leadership team and support within the unit
• Teamwork and adaptability to change are highly valued
• Must wear navy blue scrubs with no competing health system or agency logos
• COVID-19 vaccine is not currently required but is subject to change
• Three call-ins may result in termination

Requirements

• Active IN or compact RN license required
• Current AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum two years of recent cardiac/telemetry experience required
• At least one prior travel assignment is required
• Trauma level II experience required
• EPIC charting experience required with checkoff class
• Strong assessment and critical thinking skills required
• Competency in tele/12-lead EKG interpretation, heart cath recovery, PIV insertion, management of chest tubes and indwelling drains, drip management, and detox/CIWA protocol experience is required
• Must not live within a 40-mile radius of the facility (no local candidates)
