Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Level II ICU position requiring NE or compact RN licensure, ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications.

Responsibilities

• Work in a 33-bed adult ICU within an acute care hospital
• Patient population includes trauma, cardiac, overdose, sepsis, post-stent, pacemaker placement, stroke, vascular, renal failure, heart failure, and respiratory distress cases
• Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:2-3 in ICU
• RNs are required to titrate cardiac, insulin, and sedation drips
• Expected to manage patients on RT equipment, from nasal cannula to ventilators
• RNs must read, interpret, and document telemetry strips using GE monitors
• 12-hour day shifts (0630-1830) with every other weekend required
• Travelers may float to PCU and MedSurg units with appropriate ratios
• Unit uses Epic for charting
• Minimum of two holiday shifts required during contract
• One shift of unit-specific orientation provided
• RNs will provide critical care to a diverse range of adult patients with high acuity needs
• Artificial nails are prohibited for infection control reasons
• RNs are expected to participate in a pass/fail skills exam on their first orientation day
• Holiday coverage is required for at least two holidays during the assignment
• Self-scheduling not available to travelers; block scheduling is not permitted except possibly for weekends
• Travelers may not work the same schedule as another traveler for carpooling or duo scheduling purposes
• Max of 7 days RTO allowed during the 13-week contract; no additional RTO approved after submission

Requirements

• Active NE or compact RN license required at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted
• Minimum of two years recent ICU experience
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Driver's license required to verify residence outside 50-mile radius
• Must not have been employed directly by CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity within the past year
• Ability to pass a 90% or higher on a skills exam during orientation is required
• Two professional references including one from a supervisor within the past 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the past three years
