Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry Float Pool position in a large teaching hospital, requiring a MA RN license and prior travel experience.
Responsibilities
- Work in the Med/Surg Telemetry Float Pool supporting 15 specialized medical surgical units including neurology, cardiac, bariatric, general medicine, surgery, gyn, oncology, transplant, and vascular
- Large teaching hospital with 600 beds and Level I trauma designation
- Rotating 8 and 12 hour shifts including days, evenings, and nights with every other weekend and holiday coverage required
- Average patient ratio of 4:1 on days and 6:1 on nights
- Assigned to a unit for 2-3 weeks at a time with assignments possibly given 2 hours before shift
- Unit-specific procedures include 12 lead EKGs, lasix gtt, blood transfusions, and telemetry monitoring
- Care for ventilated patients with RT managing ventilators, RN responsible for nebulizer administration
- Epic EMR experience required
- No call responsibilities
- Care for a diverse patient population across multiple specialties within the float pool
- Majority of assignments are set for 2-3 week periods, with flexibility for last-minute changes
- Time off (RTO) cannot exceed 4 days, and no blocked scheduling or specific repeated days off will be approved
- Weekly orientation provided, typically beginning on Mondays except holidays
- Scrubs in any color are acceptable
- Previous employees must observe a 6-month break before returning in any position
- Parking may cost up to $43 per day for day-shift workers; public transportation is available
Requirements
- Active MA RN license required at the time of consideration
- Current AHA certifications in BLS, ACLS, and CPR
- Minimum of 3 years related RN experience
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Level I trauma experience required
- Basic computer skills and ability to navigate web-based applications
- Epic EMR experience required
- No local candidates accepted; must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
- COVID vaccine with booster and current flu vaccination required (medical exemptions allowed)
- Must complete and pass Tele/ECG and medication testing
