Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical-Surgical Telemetry Float Pool position, requiring an active MA RN license and prior travel nurse experience.
Responsibilities
- Work in a large hospital float pool covering 15 medical-surgical units, including neurology, cardiac, bariatric, oncology, transplant, and general surgery units
- Focus on adult inpatient populations with average ratios of 4:1 on days and 6:1 on nights
- Perform specialized procedures including 12-lead EKGs, telemetry monitoring, administering nebulizers, blood transfusions, and lasix drips
- Epic EMR experience required
- Rotating shifts of 8 and 12 hours, including days, evenings, and nights
- Every other weekend and holiday shifts required
- No on-call responsibilities
- Floating assignments are provided 2 hours before a shift, with unit assignments lasting 2-3 weeks
- Float Pool RNs rotate among various medical-surgical specialties, supporting changing unit needs
- Weekly orientation is provided, starting Mondays (excluding holidays)
- Pass/fail competency testing required (Tele/ECG and medication administration)
- Any color scrubs may be worn
- Public transportation is available and parking can cost up to $43 per day for day shifts
- All requested time off must be submitted with your application; no blocked or extended time off will be approved
- First time travelers will not be considered
Requirements
- Active MA RN license required at time of consideration
- Current AHA BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 3 years relevant med-surg telemetry RN experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Level I trauma experience required
- Experience working in a teaching hospital preferred
- Basic computer navigation skills required
- Epic EMR experience required
- COVID vaccine with booster and flu vaccination required (medical exemptions allowed)
- No local candidates accepted; must live more than 50 miles from facility
- A 6-month break is required for previous employees of this health system
