Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical-Surgical Telemetry Float Pool position requiring a MA RN license, prior travel experience, and Level I trauma hospital experience.

Responsibilities

• Float pool role supporting 15 medical-surgical units in a large hospital setting
• Patient population includes neurology, cardiac, bariatric, general medicine, general surgery, gynecology, GU, hips and joints, oncology, transplant, and vascular patients
• Average nurse-to-patient ratios are 4:1 on days and 6:1 on nights
• Assignment may include neurology, cardiac, bariatric, and other specialty units
• Rotating 12-hour, 8-hour, day, evening, and night shifts with every other weekend and holiday required
• Assignments may be set for 2-3 week periods or given 2 hours before shift
• No on-call required
• Unit procedures include 12 lead EKGs, lasix drips, blood transfusions, and telemetry monitoring
• Travelers use Epic EMR and must have Epic experience
• Role includes administering nebulizers and providing care for a wide range of surgical and medical cases
• Travel RNs may be floated to different units and receive assignments with short notice
• Weekly orientation sessions held every Monday except holidays
• Pass/fail testing for Tele/ECG and Medication competency may be required
• Any color scrubs are acceptable
• Returning employees must have a 6-month break before rehiring
• No blocked scheduling or specific repeated days off can be accommodated
• Holiday coverage is required during the assignment
• First-time travelers are not eligible for this position

Requirements

• Active MA RN license in hand
• Minimum 3 years of recent related work experience required
• Current AHA certifications: BLS and ACLS
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Level I trauma hospital experience required
• Basic computer skills and ability to use web-based applications
• Epic EMR experience required
• No local candidates are accepted; candidates must live at least 50 miles from the facility
• All time off requests must be presented prior to consideration and may not exceed 4 days
• COVID vaccine plus booster and annual flu vaccine required, with medical exemptions allowed
