Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a Level 1 Trauma, teaching hospital position in Georgia with strong critical care skills and a GA or compact RN license.
Responsibilities
- Work in multiple adult ICU units within a hospital setting including MICU, CCU, CVICU, NICU, PCU, and STICU
- Level 1 Trauma Center and teaching hospital environment
- ICU patient ratio is 1:1-2; PCU is 1:3-4
- 12-hour day shifts (7A-7P), 36 hours per week with a 6-week scheduling cycle
- Required to float between all ICU and PCU units and to Med/Tele units as needed
- Weekend rotation requires 6 weekend shifts over a 6-week schedule (every other weekend)
- Must work either 12/24 or 12/25 and 12/31 or 1/1 for holiday coverage
- Uses Epic for EMR with Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis, Phillips monitors, and Nova Glucose Stat Strips
- No call or call-back requirements
- First-time travelers will be considered for this role
- Support provided by CNAs, unit secretaries, charge nurses, phlebotomists, resource nurses, respiratory therapists, hospitalists, and intensivists
- Department has a busy, team-oriented culture
- Free campus parking is available; paid parking deck option also offered
- RN scrub color is navy blue
- Orientation includes one day for modules and two days in the department
- Holiday shifts required as outlined; RTO requests must be approved by the manager
Requirements
- Active GA or compact RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of recent ICU RN experience required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- CCRN certification preferred
- Must pass an EKG competency exam during onboarding
- Proficiency in trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, and managing/titrating complex drips (e.g., vasopressors, sedation, insulin, narcotics)
- Epic EMR experience preferred
