Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position, requiring strong telemetry and bedside skills with weekend and holiday coverage.

Responsibilities

• Work in a hospital Med/Surg unit with telemetry patient population
• Performs bedside telemetry strip interpretation, NG tube insertion, and peripheral IV insertion
• 12-hour night shifts with schedule adjusted to meet unit and patient care needs
• Works every other weekend and 2 out of 4 major winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, Christmas Eve, New Year's Day)
• Epic EMR experience from within the past 2 years is required
• Assignment may be extended up to 32 weeks
• No block scheduling allowed
• Must explain any employment gaps over 90 days during application
• Bi-weekly orientation sessions available, typically on Mondays
• Team covers a variety of acuity and must adapt to schedule changes as required
• Dress code or scrub color not specified
• Candidate must be prepared to work during severe winter conditions
• Assignment requires flexibility regarding shift coverage and holidays

Requirements

• Active VT or Compact RN license required, or proof of pending NY license
• AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, and NIHSS certification required (NIHSS prior to starting); Telemetry certification preferred
• Minimum 5 years of Med/Surg Tele experience OR 3 years of Telemetry experience required
• Prior travel experience is required, with at least 2 prior travel assignments in 300+ bed facilities or previous experience at a UVMHN acute care facility
• Epic EMR experience required within the past 2 years
• Ability to insert NG tubes, peripheral IVs, and interpret telemetry at bedside
• Must have personal reliable transportation due to lack of public transit in the area
• Vehicles should have all-season or snow tires November through April
