Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiac Cath Lab position requiring a SD or compact RN license and at least 2 years of cath lab experience.

Responsibilities

• Work in a Level 1 Trauma Cardiac Cath Lab within an acute care hospital
• Patient population includes adults requiring cardiac catheterizations, pacemaker/ICD implants, electrophysiology procedures, TEEs, cardioversions, venous ablations, and peripheral angiograms
• Nurse to patient ratio is 1:1
• Unit features 8 fluoroscopy rooms and 2 procedural rooms with an average of 30 patients per day
• Utilizes EPIC EMR, Pyxis, XIM (Philips monitoring), Xcelera, ultrasound, Angiojets, EKOS, and Acist systems
• Work four 10-hour day shifts weekly, with varying shift start times between 5:30 am and 7:30 am
• Required to be on-call one time per week, with on-call weekends every 3-4 weeks and a 30-minute response time
• Holiday call coverage may be required for Thanksgiving and Christmas
• Primary responsibilities include administering and monitoring conscious sedation, circulating in a sterile environment, and assisting with a range of cardiac and vascular procedures
• Initial orientation includes 4-6 shifts focused on charting and equipment depending on prior experience
• Ceil blue scrubs are provided and must be worn
• All staff must badge in and out at the facility
• Candidates must disclose any previous employment with the health system and be separated for at least 6 months prior to consideration
• Local candidates living within 80 miles are accepted

Requirements

• Active RN license in SD or a compact state
• Valid BLS and ACLS certifications
• Minimum 2 years of recent cath lab experience required
• Graduation from a NLN or AACN accredited nursing program strongly preferred; graduates from an approved nursing program accepted
• Experience with Epic EMR preferred
