Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU assignment requiring a NJ or compact RN license and advanced cardiovascular care skills.

Responsibilities

• Work in a Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) setting providing care for critically ill patients
• Patient population includes fresh open-heart cases, ventilated patients, those with chest tubes, lumbar drains, and renal failure
• Ratios are 1:1–2 depending on patient acuity
• Night shifts (3x12 hours), including every other weekend and availability for 2 of 3 major holidays
• Floating required to all ICUs, PACU, ED for ICU holding, and all IMC units based on skillset
• EPIC EMR is used for charting; Epic experience is preferred
• Direct responsibility for care and monitoring of post-cardiac surgery patients and those requiring advanced life support therapies
• First-time travelers are accepted for this position
• Locals are accepted at the same rate
• Must not have been employed by the health system within the past year to be eligible
• No block scheduling; contract position takes scheduling priority if working elsewhere
• Candidates must adhere to agreed schedule, and all time-off must be pre-approved
• Mandatory completion of up to 18 hours of required pre-start and annual training modules, including 4 hours of Epic EMR training
• Holiday coverage and every other weekend attendance required

Requirements

• Active NJ or compact RN license required at time of consideration
• Minimum 2 years of recent acute care experience
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Demonstrated CVICU experience with post-op open-heart surgeries such as CABG, MVR, AVR, and TAVR
• Experience with 12-lead EKG, Swan-Ganz, FloTrac, temp pacers, arterial lines, mechanical ventilation, chest tubes, and advanced cardiac devices including Impella, IABP, and CRRT (prismaflex)
• Must be able to assist with BiPAP and CPAP devices and chest tube insertions/removals
• SICU experience may be considered with current CVICU training
