Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN to join the Critical Care Float Pool in a Level 1 trauma center, requiring a valid CA RN license and strong ICU skills.
Responsibilities
- Work in the Critical Care Float Pool of a Level 1 trauma center
- Float between ICU and Step Down units, including ED and PACU admit hold populations
- Night shifts, part-time schedule (2x12-hour shifts, 7:00pm – 7:00am)
- Care for patients requiring ICU and step-down level of care
- Use of Epic and Cerner EMR systems is required
- Floating is required throughout the Critical Care Division
- Care responsibilities include dysrhythmia management, EKG/ECG operations, cardiovascular and neurocritical interventions, and advanced IV and sedation protocols
- Responsibilities include management of central lines, arterial lines, and advanced monitoring equipment such as EVD and ICP monitors
- Must be comfortable providing care to complex multisystem, post-cardiac, post-neuro, and trauma patients
- Participation in pre-start and annual online modules required
- Blocked and self-scheduling are not permitted
- No RTO permitted in the first two weeks of assignment; maximum 7 days RTO per 13-week contract preferred, all RTO must be submitted up front
- Locals are accepted at the same rate as travelers
- Candidates who were previously employed must have been gone at least one year to return as travelers
Requirements
- Active CA RN license in hand at the time of application (EMSA not accepted)
- Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience required
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Epic charting experience required and must be documented in work history
- Cerner charting experience required
- Must pass EKG exam (up to three attempts)
- CPI Blue Card must be obtained before start (MAB or online CPI not accepted)
- Two recent supervisor references required for consideration
- No background or Nursys violations allowed
- First-time travelers are accepted
