Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric unit with trach/vent experience and every other weekend requirements.
Responsibilities
- Work in a hospital pediatric unit
- Cares for pediatric patients with diagnoses including prematurity, cardiac defects, respiratory and feeding issues, and NAS
- Alternating day and night 12-hour shifts
- Required to work every other weekend
- Care ratios are 1:3, up to 1:4 for lower acuity patients
- Uses specialized equipment including trach/vents, PICCs/central lines, and TPN/IL
- Floating required within specialty or sister units as needed
- No on-call responsibilities
- First-time travelers are accepted for this position
- Holiday coverage required as scheduled by the unit
- Floating is prioritized for travelers and candidates must be willing to float within their clinical scope
- Candidates must disclose all requested time off at the time of application, with restrictions on changes after offer
- Return travelers must be away for at least 6 months before returning; former staff must be gone for 12 months before returning as a traveler
- Modules are required as part of orientation and are non-billable
- Block scheduling or specific scheduling requests cannot be guaranteed
- One contract extension is typically permitted before a 6-month break is required
Requirements
- Active MD or Compact RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of pediatric RN experience required
- BLS and CPI certifications required, ACLS preferred
- Experience with pediatric trach/vent care required
- American Heart Association certifications required for BLS/ACLS/PALS
- References: two satisfactory professional references from most recent employers required, including one supervisor/manager and one charge RN
- Permanent residence must be at least 50 miles from the facility
