Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery RN with a valid CA RN license, advanced certifications, and willingness to cover nights and float as needed.

Responsibilities

• Work in a hospital Labor & Delivery unit with 4 triage beds, 11 LDR rooms, 2 ORs, NICU, and postpartum areas
• Care for neonates, adolescents, and adult patients with both low and high risk deliveries
• Schedule is night shift (3x12 hours), 19:00–07:30
• Every other weekend coverage is required
• No on-call requirements
• Must be willing to float to the Perinatal unit if needed
• Uses SBAR, Omnicell, and eMD Allscripts systems
• Self-scheduling is available with managerial approval
• Main responsibilities include L&D nursing care, fetal monitoring, emergency interventions, and circulating for C-sections
• Team supported by 24/7 OB hospitalist and OB anesthesia
• Pre-employment modules are required and must be completed before start
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• RTO must be requested upon application, with no more than 3 days allowed and none in the first two weeks
• Must be available to work most holidays; only one holiday RTO may be requested and is not guaranteed
• Dress code and further onboarding requirements will be communicated prior to start
• Local candidates are accepted at the same rate
• Return staff eligibility will be reviewed on a case by case basis

Requirements

• Active and valid CA RN license at time of consideration
• Minimum of 3 years recent Labor & Delivery nursing experience required
• Certifications required: AHA BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN Advanced
• Experience with external fetal monitoring and management of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
• Must be able to circulate for C-sections
• References from two supervisors within the past two years required
