Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor and Delivery position in a Level II Trauma Magnet hospital requiring a current CA RN license and advanced maternal certifications.

Responsibilities

• Work in a Labor and Delivery unit of an acute care hospital
• Staffed in a Magnet-recognized, teaching facility with Level II Trauma designation
• Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2
• Night shifts (4x12 hours) from 19:00 to 07:00
• Weekend requirement is two weekends every six weeks, including possible Friday night shifts
• No float requirements during assignment
• No on-call responsibilities
• Uses Cerner EMR
• Main responsibilities include providing nursing care throughout the labor, delivery, and immediate postpartum process
• No scrub color requirement, but camouflage and character patterns are not permitted
• Holiday coverage is required with strict RTO policies allowing only one holiday request
• Free staff parking is provided
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Return staff must have a minimum one-year break before reapplying

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required at time of consideration
• Minimum of 1 year recent Labor and Delivery RN experience
• Certifications required: Basic Life Support (BLS), AWHONN Advanced, NRP Advanced (all 11 components), Advanced Fetal Monitoring (AFM)
• Demonstrated ability and experience in performing vaginal exams and newborn care
• Experience supporting volume ranging from fewer than 100 to more than 300 births
• Modules required during orientation; average 3-6 hours completed onsite
• Locals accepted at the same rate
