Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry Float Pool position requiring a MO or compact RN license, BLS, ACLS, and expertise in IV/start and telemetry.

Responsibilities

• Position is in a short-term acute care hospital in the Med/Surg Telemetry Float Pool
• Patient ratios are 1:5-6 for days and weekends, and 1:6 for night shifts
• Assignment involves floating to all medical, surgical, oncology, neuro, renal, and cardiology units within the hospital and affiliate hospitals as needed
• Utilizes lift devices, ceiling lifts, bladder scanner, and telemetry monitoring equipment
• EPIC charting system is used and experience is required
• Night shift schedule with 3x12 hour shifts (18:45-07:15)
• Every other weekend and holiday rotation required
• No on-call responsibilities
• Block scheduling is not accommodated
• Work includes providing care for a diverse patient population across multiple units as needs demand
• Daily unit assignment communicated up to one hour before each shift via a recorded line
• Proper fit mask testing is required; facial hair must allow for effective fit testing
• Navy blue scrubs are required
• Free parking is available on site
• All mandatory training modules must be completed prior to start
• Holiday and weekend coverage are part of the schedule
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Travel contracts may be extended up to 18 months followed by a required 3-month break

Requirements

• Active MO or compact RN license required for consideration
• Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience in med/surg or telemetry
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• IV start and telemetry skills required
• NIHSS certification preferred
• Experience with EPIC EMR strongly preferred
• Must reside outside of a 75-mile radius from the facility
• No previous permanent employment at any BJC facility within the past year
• SSN and birth date required for consideration
• Up to 7 days of requested time off (RTO) allowed per 13 week contract; no RTO permitted during the first week
