Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position in New York requiring a valid NY RN license, 5 years of ED experience, and EPIC proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Emergency Department (ED) of a hospital setting
• Cares for a variety of emergency and mental health crisis patients
• 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Schedule includes every other weekend and holiday
• Uses EPIC as the charting system; prior EPIC experience is required
• Must be able to evaluate and manage mental health crises for ED patients
• An on-site ECG exam must be completed with a required passing score and study materials will be provided prior to start
• Facility may cancel up to 5 shifts per contract
• Adherence to holiday and weekend coverage requirements is expected
• Review of ECG study guide is strongly encouraged prior to starting
• First-time travelers will be considered

Requirements

• Active New York State RN license required
• Minimum of 5 years recent Emergency Department nursing experience
• Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and PALS
• Must be skilled in crisis evaluation for mental health patients in the ED
• Must pass a closed-book, timed on-site ECG exam with provided study materials
• Experience with EPIC charting required
• Flu vaccination required; medical or religious exemption documentation must be provided 10 days before start
• Facility physical required prior to start (fee applies)
• Candidates cannot reside in or have a permanent address in Warren, Washington, Fulton, Montgomery, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Columbia, Greene, Dutchess, Ulster, or Albany counties
• Candidates who have worked as staff at this facility in the last year or within the AMC network in the past six months are not eligible
