Job Description

American Traveler is seeking a Physical Therapist with home health experience and an active Alaska PT license for a community-based assignment in Ketchikan.

Responsibilities

  • Home health setting with care provided in patients' homes and an office located on campus
  • Typical schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm; 4x10 or 5x8 day shifts available
  • No weekend or on-call requirements
  • Average daily census of 26 patients
  • Covers a variety of common diagnoses including COPD, CHF, orthopedic procedures such as joint replacements, and neuro diseases
  • Clinician may float to hospice within scope if needed
  • Epic EMR experience preferred but not required
  • Responsible for evaluating patients, developing and updating plans of care, and delivering physical therapy treatments
  • May provide oversight and mentorship to therapy assistants, students, aides, and volunteers
  • Collaboration with interdisciplinary patient care teams to ensure continuous and effective care
  • Completion of accurate and timely documentation in accordance with professional and state requirements
  • May participate in staff meetings, educational sessions, and the development of new programs
  • Return staff policy requires a one-year separation before returning as a traveler
  • Local candidates within 60 miles are not accepted
  • Scrub or professional attire is required while on duty

Requirements

  • Active Alaska PT license required; compact license accepted if applicable
  • Minimum of 1 year of recent home health experience and OASIS experience required
  • BLS certification required
  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate in Physical Therapy from an accredited program
  • Reliable vehicle required for community visits
  • Epic EMR experience preferred
  • Fully vaccinated against COVID-19 required
  • First-time travelers accepted if they have OASIS experience
