Job Description

American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg RN for an acute care setting, requiring NE or compact RN license and recent BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Work in a 42-bed Medical Surgical unit within an acute care hospital
• Patient population includes medical, surgical, and orthopedic cases
• Usual nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:5-6, with 1:6 occurring at least once per week
• Centralized telemetry monitoring on the unit
• Heparin is the only titratable drip permitted
• Respiratory therapy is available on the floor 24 hours a day
• Patient care techs are available with a 1:10-12 ratio
• Requires 12-hour night shifts (1830-0700)
• Weekend and holiday work required as needed
• No call or standby requirements
• Floating may be required to PCU or Burn units
• EPIC EMR system used
• Primary responsibilities include caring for adult medical, surgical, and orthopedic patients
• Charge nurse is present on each shift
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Initial orientation includes classroom instruction plus two 12-hour floor shifts
• Maximum of 7 days RTO permitted per 13-week contract, must be submitted before assignment begins; additional RTO will not be approved
• Candidates must not have been employed by CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity within the past year
• First week includes mandatory pass/fail skills exam; failure to achieve 90% will result in contract termination

Requirements

• Active NE or compact RN license required at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted
• Current BLS certification required; pending certifications not accepted
• Minimum one year of recent Med/Surg RN experience required
• Driver's license required for distance verification (must live 50+ miles from facility)
• Candidates may not currently be employed full, part time, or PRN by any facility associated with CommonSpirit
• Must provide two professional references, including one from a supervisor within the past 12 months and another from a peer or supervisor within the past 3 years, both including dates of employment and rehire eligibility
• Must pass a skills exam during orientation with at least 90%
• Artificial nails prohibited in all patient care areas
