Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg-Orthopedics night shift position requiring strong ortho and total joint replacement experience, with an active WV or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

• Work in an acute care hospital Med/Surg-Ortho unit with 22 beds
• Patient population includes orthopedic cases such as joints, replacements, and fractures
• Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5-6
• Night shift schedule: 12-hour shifts, Friday-Sunday or Saturday-Monday, 7:00pm–7:30am
• Required to work every other weekend or two weekend shifts per schedule
• Holiday coverage rotation is required
• Possible floating to 7E, 7W, 10W, and 10E units
• Unit uses Epic EMR
• Charge nurse present 24/7 and three CNAs per shift
• Royal blue scrubs required
• Main duties involve caring for post-operative orthopedic patients and monitoring recovery
• RNs are not required to titrate drips or read telemetry strips
• Orientation includes 1-2 shifts on the unit
• Holiday coverage is shared within the unit rotation
• Returning candidates must have had a two-year break from any WVU Medicine location to be eligible
• Travelers are not permitted to work in the system for more than one year without a two-year break
• Local candidates within 50 miles are not eligible
• First-time travelers are accepted

Requirements

• Active WV or compact state RN license
• Current BLS certification
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience
• Strong orthopedic experience required, including total joint replacements
• Experience caring for orthopedic patients with joints, replacements, and fractures
• Must live at least 50 miles from the facility
• COVID-19 vaccination required unless a medical or religious exemption is approved
• Must provide an unexpired driver's license for consideration
