Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN with trauma and Epic experience for a night shift Emergency Department position in Oregon, requiring an active OR license and BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
Responsibilities
- Work in a Level I Trauma Center emergency department at a teaching hospital
- Care for adult and pediatric trauma, acute stroke, STEMI, psychological emergencies, sepsis, and complex cases
- Nurse-to-patient ratios are typically 1:3-4
- Night shift schedule with 3x12 hour shifts, either 17:00–05:30 or 19:00–07:30
- Weekend shifts are required
- Float assignments may include other units within the same hospital
- Epic used for charting; Epic experience required
- Responsibilities include assessment, coordination, and implementation of emergency interventions, including moderate/deep sedation, ultrasound, intubation, cardioversion, D&C, sexual assault exams, CPR, and imminent deliveries
- Must be able to effectively care for patients with alcohol/drug abuse or complex medical conditions
- Scrubs provided; no print scrubs permitted
- Return staff must have not worked at the facility in the past 6 months
- Modules and online onboarding must be completed before start date
- Maximum of 1 week of requested time off will be considered
- Local candidates accepted at the same rate
- First-time travelers are not accepted unless they have 1 year of travel experience and recent Epic experience
Requirements
- Active OR RN license required or proof of submitted application with state board
- Minimum 2 years recent emergency department RN experience
- Recent Epic charting experience required
- Trauma nursing experience required
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS are required; TNCC preferred
- COVID-19 vaccination required with no exemptions
- Two supervisor references from the past 24 months required (or from the past 3-5 years if not possible)
- No prior background or license disciplinary actions considered
