Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position specializing in hospice and palliative care, requiring recent trauma experience and NH or compact licensure.

Responsibilities

• Work in a specialized, free-standing inpatient palliative and hospice care unit
• Provides care to patients with serious, life-limiting illness
• Patient to nurse ratio is 4:1 or less, with nursing assistants present on some shifts
• Med/surg setting with progressive care treatments including palliative sedation, Bipap, and high-flow therapies
• RN responsibilities include vascular access and phlebotomy
• Strong focus on teamwork and interdisciplinary support
• Role emphasizes compassionate, skilled care and symptom management for hospice and palliative patients
• Collaboration within a large, well-resourced palliative care team
• Effective, clear communication and strong team orientation are essential
• Unit opened in December 2017 and continuously evaluates care models
• Candidates should embody values of kindness and dedication to patient-centered end-of-life care

Requirements

• Active NH or compact RN license required
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 1.5 years of recent, relevant RN experience required
• Recent Level 1 or Level 2 trauma experience within the last 2 years required
• No local candidates; must reside at least 75 miles from the facility
