Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for the Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool with strong PICU experience and required BLS and PALS certifications in Washington, DC.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool within a teaching Magnet hospital
  • Float between NICU, PICU, and CVPICU as needed
  • Patient ratios are typically 1:1 or 1:2; may be 1:3 when floating to NICU
  • Patients may include all pediatric ages with no age cutoff
  • Shift options include four 12-hour night shifts (19:00-07:30) or day shifts (07:00-19:30)
  • Weekend work is required every other weekend with potential for block scheduling
  • No on-call is required for this position
  • Cerner is used for charting
  • Float as needed among all critical care pediatric units to support patient care needs
  • Pre-employment online modules must be completed prior to orientation and are self-reported
  • Only child-friendly, logo-free scrubs are permitted, with no color specification
  • One guaranteed holiday off; additional holidays off based on facility needs
  • No restrictions for local candidates, with no mileage radius requirements
  • Return staff must have been separated from prior employment for a minimum of one year to be eligible
  • Non-smoking facility with zero tolerance for tobacco use anywhere onsite
  • Compliance documents are due the Monday prior to start date

Requirements

  • Active DC RN license required or pending DC RN license with proof of application and pending status; active license must be obtained before start
  • Minimum 2 years of recent PICU or CVPICU experience required
  • Current BLS and PALS certifications required
  • Strong pediatric critical care experience with comfort floating between CVPICU, NICU, and PICU
  • First-time travelers are accepted
  • Must provide professional references upon request
