Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Telemetry night shift assignment, requiring a WV or compact license and at least 2 years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Work on a 20-bed Telemetry unit within an acute care hospital
• Patient population includes cardiac cases, post-cath, post-STEMI, NSTEMI, pre/post-surgical, and occasional oncology patients
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1:5-6 on both day and night shifts
• Full-time night shifts are 12 hours, 7:00 pm to 7:30 am, with every other weekend and holiday rotations
• Use Epic EMR and charting is required; telemetry monitoring uses Phillips Cardiac Monitors
• Floating may be required to ICU overflow, Ortho, or Med/Surg units
• Primary responsibilities include cardiac monitoring, managing drips per protocol, caring for pre/post-cath and STEMI patients, and documenting cardiac rhythms
• Nurses are required to read and document cardiac strips every 4 hours in the EMR
• Central monitoring and hardwired telemetry systems are present; nurses may have to work with both
• No IV team is present; nurses manage IVs independently
• Scrub color is navy blue with white or navy jackets; only natural hair colors allowed and tasteful tattoos must be covered
• Hospitalist, pharmacy, and respiratory therapy support are available 24/7
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Block scheduling may be considered if specified in the contract

Requirements

• Active WV or compact RN license
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA)
• Minimum 2 years of recent telemetry experience
• Willingness to work night shifts and rotate weekends and holidays
• Must live more than 50 miles from the facility
• Not eligible if previously employed permanently or as a traveler at any WVU Medicine location within the last 2 years
• EKG testing required prior to assignment for this unit
• Experience with Epic EMR preferred
• First-time travelers are accepted
