Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a telemetry unit in an acute care setting, requiring a WV or compact RN license, BLS, and ACLS certifications.

Responsibilities

• Position is in a 20-bed private room telemetry unit on the 2nd floor of an acute care hospital
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1:5-6 for both day and night shifts
• Uses Epic EMR and Phillips cardiac monitors
• 12-hour day shifts from 7:00 am to 7:30 pm with every other weekend and rotating holiday coverage
• Patient population includes elevated troponin, active chest pain, pre/post-cath patients, post-STEMI after ICU, NSTEMI, peritoneal dialysis, pacemaker care, post-surgical overflow, and occasional oncology cases
• May float to overflow telemetry or Ortho/MedSurg units as needed
• RNs are required to read and document telemetry strips every 4 hours
• Drip management includes medications such as Cardizem, Amiodarone, Labetalol, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Heparin, Integrilin, and Nitroglycerin per protocol
• Respiratory therapy, hospitalist, and pharmacy support are available 24/7
• Scrub color is navy blue with navy or white jackets and white or navy undershirts; hair must be a natural color, and offensive tattoos must be covered
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Must pass EKG testing as part of onboarding
• Expect orientation of 1-2 days based on experience
• Block scheduling may be available if included in contract
• Holiday scheduling depends on unit needs, with an effort to limit traveler assignment to holidays

Requirements

• Active WV or compact state RN license
• Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience
• Current BLS and ACLS (AHA) certifications
• Previous Epic EMR experience preferred
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
• Previous permanent or travel staff must have a two-year break before reapplying
