Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiac Telemetry position on a stepdown intermediate care unit, requiring an active OK or compact RN license and BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Work in a 28-bed cardiac telemetry stepdown intermediate care unit at a Level I trauma center
• Care for cardiac patients, including post-operative cases, with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-6
• Shift runs from 18:30 to 07:00
• Patients include all age groups with a focus on cardiac needs
• Unit supported by Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) and a unit coordinator
• Utilization of virtual sitter monitoring and monitor techs for those on telemetry
• Responsibilities include implementing and monitoring patient care plans, coordinating interdisciplinary care, and supporting discharge planning
• Team-based approach with support from PCTs and a healthcare unit coordinator
• Critical thinking, decisive judgment, and the ability to work independently in a high-acuity environment are essential
• Personal protective equipment must be used as required following Standard Precautions
• COVID vaccination is not required
• Holiday and weekend shifts may be required based on unit needs
• Local candidates are accepted but may be offered a reduced rate based on facility radius rules

Requirements

• Active OK or compact RN license required with current verification
• Minimum of 1 year recent acute care RN experience, preferably in telemetry or stepdown
• Current AHA BLS certification required
• NIH Stroke Scale certification preferred
• Nursys license verification and primary source verification required within 30 days prior to start
• Must provide a US Social Security Number and US address
