Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position in a teaching hospital with Level 1 Trauma designation requiring a GA or compact license and strong clinical skills.

Responsibilities

• Work in a 16-bed Med/Surg Telemetry unit of a large hospital with Level 1 Trauma and teaching hospital status
• Typical patient population includes chest pain, syncope, abdominal pain, COPD exacerbation, heart failure observation, diabetes, and post-op patients
• RN patient ratios range from 1:4-6
• Uses Epic EMR, Alaris pumps, Pyxis system, Phillips monitors, and cardiac telemetry monitoring
• Required to float to all adult med/surg and telemetry units as needed
• No on-call requirements
• 12-hour shifts available, both days (7A-7P) and nights (7P-7A)
• Weekend rotation involves working 5-6 shifts every 6 weeks
• Must work either 12/24 or 12/25 and 12/31 or 1/1 as holiday coverage
• Responsibilities include cardiac monitoring, medication drips titrated to heart rate, IV management, and interdisciplinary care coordination
• Support provided by CNAs, unit secretaries, charge nurse, resource team, respiratory therapists, hospitalists, and intensivists 24/7
• Orientation includes one day of facility orientation plus two days of departmental training with educational modules
• Scrub color for RNs is navy

Requirements

• Active GA or compact RN license
• Minimum of 2 years Med/Tele RN experience required
• Associate's degree in Nursing or higher
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Basic Cardiac Rhythm test completed during onboarding
• Proficiency in trach care, chest tube management, IV insertion and maintenance, cardiac monitoring, care coordination, and discharge planning
• Strong clinical assessment and time management skills
• Epic EMR experience preferred
