Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Operating Room RN with at least 2 years of acute care experience, an active ID or compact RN license, and strong proficiency in a wide variety of surgical cases.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Operating Room within an acute care hospital setting
• Unit features 17 OR suites handling an average of 65 cases per day
• Patient population includes both pediatric and adult cases, covering general surgery, DaVinci, neuro-spine, craniotomies, orthopedic trauma, urology, oncology, ENT, GYN, bariatric, and more
• Uses Epic EMR system
• Shifts are 12 hours, typically 7a-7p, with a minimum of four call hours per week and variable days off
• Weekend, holiday, and nightly call rotation required, with in-house 12-hour call shifts at least once per month
• Call response time is 30 minutes
• Scrubbing is not required for RNs
• Rare floating may occur to other nearby surgical centers or ORs if needed and if experienced
• Orientation consists of one week including general and unit-specific training
• Collaborate with a team including 24/7 charge nurse support and OR techs
• Scrubs are provided by the hospital and must be grey
• No block scheduling or special scheduling requests will be accepted
• Permanent employees must be separated from the facility for at least one year before applying as a traveler
• Holiday coverage is required as determined by departmental needs

Requirements

• Active RN license for Idaho or a compact state
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum of 2 years recent Operating Room nursing experience in an acute care setting
• Previous travel assignment experience preferred
• Experience with a broad range of surgical procedures strongly preferred
• Ability to respond to call within 30 minutes
• Experience with Epic EMR preferred
• Must provide two professional references: one from a supervisor within the past 12 months, and one from a peer or supervisor within the past 3 years
• Valid driver's license required
• Must live outside a 50-mile radius from the facility
