Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU night shift position requiring a NC or compact RN license and recent CVICU experience.

Responsibilities

• Position is located in the CVICU of a large academic Level 1 Trauma Center
• 22-bed ICU caring for surgical and medical cardiac critical care patients
• Common diagnoses include post-CABG, valve replacements, Impella, IABP management, and thoracic aortic aneurysms
• RN-to-patient ratio is 1:2
• Uses Epic EMR (experience preferred), Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, Phillips monitors, and CRRT (NxStage)
• Night shift schedule is 1830-0700 with an every other weekend rotation
• No call requirements
• Floating required within other critical care units with ratios of PCU 1:3 and MS 1:4
• Responsibilities include comprehensive nursing care for critically ill cardiac and post-surgical patients
• Support available from 24/7 RTs, intensivists, charge nurses, CNAs, and unit receptionists
• Nurse draw for phlebotomy
• Unit has a high acuity and fast-paced culture
• New employee orientation consists of one week of facility and 2-3 days of department training
• Travelers are expected to work 75% of holidays
• Royal blue scrubs are required
• First-time travelers with prior CVICU experience will be considered
• RTO requires nurse manager approval

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• Minimum one year recent CVICU experience required
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• CCRN certification preferred
• Experience with post-cardiac assessment and managing circulatory support equipment such as IABP, Impella, LVAD, and ECMO is required
• Proficient in titrating vasoactive and antiarrhythmic medications and interpreting cardiac waveforms
• Experience with Epic EMR preferred
