Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) night shift position requiring a compact or NC RN license and previous CVICU experience.

Responsibilities

• Work in a 22-bed CVICU at an academic Level 1 Trauma Center
• Primary patient population includes post-cardiac surgery and critically ill cardiac patients, including those requiring circulatory support such as IABP, Impella, LVAD, and ECMO
• Typical nurse to patient ratio is 1:2
• Float required to other critical care areas, including PCU (1:3) and Med-Surg (1:4)
• Night shift hours are 1830-0700, with every other weekend and 75% holiday coverage required
• Epic EMR in use; experience with Epic is preferred
• CRRT (NxStage), Phillips monitors, Alaris IV pumps, and Omnicell medication dispensing system are utilized
• Duties include comprehensive cardiac critical care, post-surgical management, and advanced cardiac life support
• Support team includes CNAs, 24/7 Intensivist, respiratory therapy, and charge nurse often in assignment
• One week of facility orientation and 2-3 days of departmental orientation provided
• Royal blue scrubs required for nursing staff
• High acuity, fast-paced work environment
• Employee parking is available
• First-time travelers accepted if they have required CVICU experience
• Schedule is set in 6-week cycles
• NM approval required for requested time off

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• Minimum 1 year of recent CVICU nursing experience is required
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS required; CCRN preferred
• Demonstrated experience with cardiac assessments, vasoactive medication titration, hemodynamic monitoring, and circulatory support devices such as IABP, Impella, LVAD, and ECMO
• Epic EMR experience is preferred
