Job Description
American Traveler seeks a Speech Language Pathologist with at least 1 year of inpatient experience, BLS, and an active Alaska license for an acute care hospital setting.
Responsibilities
- Role is based in an acute care hospital with Level II Trauma designation
- Inpatient caseload spanning ICU to skilled nursing and outpatient level patients
- Unit census averages 50-70 patients daily with 5-6 SLPs on weekdays and 3-4 on weekends
- FEES and MBS/Videofluoroscopic Swallow Studies are performed; all SLPs complete MBS-IMP
- Epic EMR is used and experience is required
- Day shifts, 5x8 hours, typically 8:30am–5:00pm
- Weekend coverage is required
- No floating to other units within the facility is required, but floating between facilities within the state may be expected
- No on-call requirement
- SLPs work with a varied patient population, including those with complex discharge needs
- Team includes multiple SLPs scheduled each day for support
- SLPs will be assessed for readiness before being assigned to ICU-level patients; ICU rotation is not required
- Minimal to no time off (RTO) is strongly preferred and must be requested upfront
- Scrubs are provided by the facility
- Free parking available on site
- Former staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and reside further than 50 miles from the facility
- First-time travelers are accepted for this position
Requirements
- Active Alaska SLP license required if applicable
- Current BLS certification required
- At least 1 year of recent inpatient SLP experience required
- Experience with Epic EMR required
- Ability to perform FEES and MBS procedures required
- References: Minimum of 2 supervisory references covering at least 1 year within the past 3 years in a comparable setting
- COVID and Flu vaccination documentation required
- Social Security card and valid driver's license required
- Locals not accepted; permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the facility
- Pending license not accepted
