Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department night shift position requiring a NM or compact license and TNCC certification.
Responsibilities
- Work in the Emergency Department at a Level I trauma, teaching, and acute care hospital
- Patient ratios are typically 1:5
- Majority of ED patients are admitted or held in ED Holding
- Potential to care for both adult and pediatric populations
- Required to work night shifts (19:00–7:30), with weekend scheduling as needed
- Expected to float to Adult PCUs as needed; optional floating to Peds ED and potential to float to ED Holding or Trauma
- Cerner EMR system used; previous experience preferred
- Assignment length is 13 weeks with options for 36- or 48-hour work weeks
- Black scrubs required, not provided
- Duties include comprehensive patient care, medication administration (including IV meds), and clinical documentation
- Must be able to work weekends as scheduled, including both days and nights
- Increased number of ED admit holds expected during assignment
- First-time travelers may be considered if all other requirements are met
- No local candidates accepted within a 75-mile radius
- Requests for more than 7 days time off require approval
Requirements
- Active NM or compact state RN license; license may be pending at time of consideration
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department RN experience required; will consider 1.5 years with review
- Level I trauma experience preferred; travel experience strongly preferred
- Current ACLS, BLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications required; TNCC must be obtained prior to consideration
- NIHSS certification may be in process at time of hire and completed before start
- COVID-19 vaccination required unless an approved medical or religious exemption form is provided
