Job Description

American Traveler seeks a Speech-Language Pathologist with BLS, CCC-SLP, and acute care experience for a hospital-based acute care role focusing on dysphagia and related disorders.

Responsibilities

• Work in an acute care hospital setting
• Serve patients across ICU, neuro, and CVIMC units with a variety of acute diagnoses
• Primary focus on dysphagia, with additional consultations for language and communication disorders
• Perform Modified Barium Swallow (MBS) and Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) procedures
• Day shifts, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm
• Every third weekend is required
• Floating within the hospital as needed
• EPIC EMR experience preferred
• Main responsibilities include assessment and intervention for dysphagia, as well as language and communication disorders
• Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams in ICU, neuro, and CVIMC units
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Return staff must have been gone for at least one year and must still be in good standing; locals are not eligible
• Background checks are accepted with only minor infractions

Requirements

• Current BLS certification required
• CCC-SLP certification required
• Valid state license required if applicable
• Minimum of 1 year experience in an acute care setting required
• Experience with MBS and FEES procedures preferred
• Professional references from assignments within the past year required
• COVID vaccination required or a valid exemption submitted at least one week prior to start
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
