Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night Med/Surg Tele position working with post-trauma and surgical patients, requiring a compact or VA RN license and at least one year of recent acute care and travel nursing experience.

Responsibilities

• Position is on the Med/Surg Tele Unit 5E in a hospital setting
• 30-bed unit (can flex to 37) focused on mixed surgical cases, general surgery, traumas, and smaller ortho cases
• Patient population includes post-trauma and surgical patients
• Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5-6
• Phlebotomy responsibilities included with 1-2 CNAs per shift and availability of sitters
• May float to other Med/Surg Tele units as needed
• Uses EPIC for electronic medical records; prior experience preferred
• Night shift with every other weekend and major holiday required
• Responsibilities include care coordination, medication administration, patient assessment, and plan of care development
• Candidates must participate in an interview
• Every other weekend and major holiday coverage is expected
• Dress code requires navy blue, white, or any combination of the two for scrubs
• Team includes 1-2 CNAs per shift to support RNs
• Initial and ongoing support provided for EKG exam preparation
• First-time travelers will not be considered

Requirements

• Active VA or compact RN license is required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• At least one year of recent acute care experience is required
• One year of travel RN experience is required
• Must live at least 50 miles from the facility
• Must pass a dysrhythmia (EKG) exam within two attempts; study guides provided
• Post-surgery care experience is preferred
• EPIC EMR experience is preferred
