Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical Ortho Med/Surg night shift contract, requiring an active compact RN license and recent Epic experience.

Responsibilities

• Work in a hospital setting on a Medical Ortho Med/Surg unit
• 32-bed unit expanding to 37 beds in January 2025
• Patient population includes a mix of medical and surgical cases such as confusion, behavioral health, CHF, COPD, UTI, cellulitis, sepsis, amputations, decubitus ulcers, and general surgeries
• Required to work 12-hour night shifts from 6:30pm to 7:00am
• Weekend coverage required for three weekends out of every six-week schedule and every other holiday
• First to float within skillset with potential to float to other campuses within 8-11 miles; 2-hour notice provided for cross-campus float
• Mid-shift float within the same campus possible
• Uses Epic EMR system; recent experience required and checkoff class provided
• No on-call or call-back requirements
• Strong teamwork culture with supportive charge nurses and new leadership
• May be required to precept students and new hires as part of a teaching hospital environment
• Navy blue scrubs required without competing health system or agency logos
• COVID-19 vaccine is not required but subject to change
• More than three call-ins may result in termination
• Shortened hours may occur during orientation week or when units are closed for holidays
• Ideal candidates are resilient, hardworking, and sociable

Requirements

• Current active IN or compact RN license required
• AHA BLS and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum two years of strong Med/Surg experience required
• At least one previous travel assignment required
• Experience in trauma level II setting required
• Recent Epic charting experience required
• Ability to perform IV fluid and antibiotic therapies, heparin drips, wound care/wound vacs, and basic telemetry
• Must adhere to the 40-mile radius rule; no local candidates considered
